official FIP study at the UZH

For many years, FIP was the death sentence for every cat. A few years ago, a ray of hope came from the USA, a drug that is supposed to cure FIP.

The American drug is under patent protection and is not authorised in Switzerland or the EU. For this reason, groups have formed – especially in the social media – which have made it possible to obtain the drug on the black market. Despite the lack of quality controls, these drugs have been very successful. They really have saved the lives of many cats and convinced so many vets to help treat their patients. There is only one catch: from a legal point of view, this is illegal animal testing.

Now we finally have an official study in Switzerland and therefore an absolutely legal solution. The University Animal Hospital Zurich writes on its website:

We are very pleased to be able to offer an approved andcontrolled oral therapy with GS-441524 as part of a therapy study at the University Animal Hospital Zurich.

If the suspicion of FIP is confirmed, talk to your veterinarian about the study or contact the animal hospital directly. You will be well advised there whether a direct clarification in the emergency procedure makes sense and what costs arise – both from the clarification and from any treatment.
